Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR)

The computer converts manually typed text characters into machine-readable characters using Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR). Personalities are entered via an I/O device in a rough print format, and the image of the captured data entry is afterward processed and transformed into machine-readable characters. ICR is occasionally used in optical Character Recognition (OCR) processing forms.

Before ICR, document processing was carried out by data entry personnel who read and physically entered data from paper forms into electronic forms on computers that had a format identical to the paper forms. Typewritten or computer-generated fonts, handwritten characters, check boxes and bubbles, bar codes, and signatures were all data extracted from paper forms. Optical Mark Recognition (OMR)

Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) is an electronic technique for collecting data that someone has handled by recognizing specific markings on a document. The Optical Mark Recognition method is typically carried out with a scanner that measures the light’s passage or reflection through the paper. Marked areas of the paper will reflect less light than unmarked areas, giving them a lower contrast reflectivity.

Optical Barcode Recognition (OBR)

In Optical Barcode Recognition (OBR), a device decodes information from specific printed documents, such as images and text. It changes it into digital data that may be modified, transferred, and ultimately stored at hundreds of characters per second. A light source (usually an LED or laser), a lens, and a light sensor that converts optical impulses to electrical signals make up optical bar-code readers and scanners. For computers and other digital devices to use electrical impulses, they must first be transformed into digital numerical values.

Many Data Management software is used to collect and summarise documents into digital forms both manually and with the help of scanners. This software is easy to access and makes the documentation work much more convenient and faster. Many such software use cloud computing, so we can access & share data from nearly anywhere.
